The hosts break down gift categories by mom-type, starting with the exhausted first-time mother who needs peace more than anything else. From vouchers for household chores to in-home massages, they explore ways to give new moms a much-needed break. For young moms juggling careers and children, self-care subscription boxes and nights out top the list, while pregnant moms-to-be deserve comfort items like prenatal massage certificates and body pillows.

Empty nest mothers enter a phase of rediscovery, making spa retreats and digital photo frames filled with family memories ideal gifts. Spiritual and nurturing moms appreciate tickets to see favorite speakers or service projects organized in their name. Throughout the episode, GentheBuilder and Kory emphasize budget-friendly options like personalized coupon books, custom playlists, and seven-day text appreciation series that cost nothing but mean everything.

Whether you're shopping for a biological mother, adoptive mom, or a nurturing woman who stepped into a maternal role, this episode offers practical ideas to show appreciation. As they wisely note, "To the world you are a mother, to your family you are the world." Speaker 1:

hey, it's jen the builder and cory and hello may just like that hello, may May I like it. And you know what the heck. So I think today's episode is so appropriate, because here we are in May and if anyone is where we're at, we're like, oh my goodness, mother's Day is next weekend.

Speaker 2:

Yeah.

Speaker 1:

And we haven't gone shopping. We haven't made any solid plans. What are we going to do?

Speaker 2:

We do what we always do Last minute planning for everything, last minute shopping and hope that we get everything we need done.

Speaker 1:

That's right. So today we're going to talk about some top gifts from my heart and Corey's heart to yours on maybe some ideas for the different types of moms out there.

Speaker 2:

And.

Speaker 1:

I think creating the categories was the most fun part in getting ready for this episode.

Speaker 2:

Indeed. But before we get started, jenna, I wanted to tell the listeners I'm just so happy, so proud. You know we had looked at the downloads for a three-day download and it was over a thousand, and then looked at it again and noticed that there was even much higher, and that was, you know, within a week. So that was a really good situation to see and thank you guys all for listening and commenting, and a big shout out to all of those who have been listening. My cousin Tramiel, thank you so much. Appreciate you giving me that feedback on the awkward moments. Good stuff.

Speaker 1:

Well, I was going to say so. Thank you, by the way, everyone who's listening. But I think the last episode was pretty out there and we've gotten comments like we needed something light. It was really good and some people said they just uncontrollably were in laughter and couldn't stop. Yeah, and that makes us happy, because sometimes you just need the belly laugh. I know I love them and automatically I feel lighter, I feel like ah like that was good ready to go now let's do it.

Speaker 2:

We can take on the world, that's right.

Speaker 1:

So let's go into this cory. Um, first I'm going to say that I have been guilty as charged. My kids have asked you. You've asked what can I get you for Mother's Day? And I say you don't have to get me anything.

Speaker 2:

That is a red flag and a half.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, we're going to throw that out the door, because if you're a mom, or if you're someone who's like a mom to someone and you're celebrated that way, let's talk about that Like no, it's your day, it's special. So we want to make sure we're given gifts and honoring and, and if you can't get a gift, a heartfelt thank you, a memory shared, you know and for those uh kids listening, if there are any kids we used to have some kids listening Um, feel free to make a card.

Speaker 2:

Just get some paper, yes, those are the best. Write something down that you really think mom would enjoy and give that to her. There's always some flower somewhere along the way. I used to do that as a child Just go pick some random flowers. They might not even like them, but you know, just pick a flower and write a card that you make out of paper and give it to mom there you go.

Speaker 1:

So let's talk about the first time mom. So, first time moms, we have a couple in our lives this year, right? Um? So they're probably exhausted, overwhelmed and just trying to figure everything out. Cory, what's a good gift for a first-time mom, for a first-time mom.

Speaker 2:

I would give vouchers, like any kind of voucher to wash dishes, maybe to wash clothes, clean something that mom is normally going to clean, maybe take her out to eat, if you have a budget for that, or maybe make something at home for her, something simple, but give her some kind of ticket or voucher that she can say hey, I need you to step up and do something for me and that's for the father, obviously and if it's a first-time mom, like in an adoption situation, or maybe a younger or older child, maybe you can do that. That wouldn't be a first-time mom, though.

Speaker 1:

I like where you're going Nice. So I think for first-time moms remembering what that was like you can't gift her sleep, but, man, you can give her some peace.

Speaker 2:

So I love your ideas there.

Speaker 1:

Sleep, but, man, you can give her some peace, so I love your ideas there. In addition, a spa day, or if you can find a masseuse that does in-home massages, omg, that would be great. To give her time to relax and restore. Yeah right, um, this one I have not seen anyone do and I think I would have appreciated this one. A meal delivery service? Or you making a homemade meal, her favorite homemade meal, and she just gets to sit and enjoy. Doesn't have to get up and tend to baby because, dad, you got that or sis, you got that.

Speaker 1:

Or sis, you got that.

Speaker 2:

Right. Right Love that Sis brother mother.

Speaker 1:

Anyone else but herself.

Speaker 2:

We're just trying to build a little rope to be able to hang on to something.

Speaker 1:

That's right, all right. So let's go on to the young mom. So these are our strong mothers who juggle young kids and possibly a career. So she's vibrant, but she, she's stretched. What's a good gift?

Speaker 2:

give her a night out, like a night on the town right night with the girls, night with the husband, night to herself. You know, some moms just want to be at home and take a bubble bath and relax a little bit. Most young moms haven't drank or haven't had any wine or champagne or anything like that since the baby, and maybe let them have their little cocktail for the first time in a long time.

Speaker 1:

We're not talking about unleashing the drunkard in anybody, but you know just try give them a few minutes to enjoy yeah, because you don't want them to lose themselves. They don't want to lose themselves, so anything that's going to help them stay centered, I love where you're going. I think you said bubble baths yeah so the gift that keeps on giving, yes, yes and yes. There's also these amazing self-care subscription boxes. Right, some of them could include bubble bath type stuff, nails, hair makeup, magazines, journals, anything like that. You can find them everywhere, and etsy, by the way. Oh, they've got curated boxes that are so thoughtful yes, indeed.

Speaker 2:

And guys, if you're listening, and ladies if you're listening, which I know the ladies are, let your husband hear this part. This gift keeps on giving. You know, you think, oh man, I gotta do this or that, but you pay for that spa day and those nails and toenails to be done. She's gone for at least five or six hours, man, and you got your time back. It just keeps on giving.

Speaker 1:

That's right, and that reminds me of this too, whatever I'm trying to say there. Sorry for the mix up, but I think moms coordinate a lot of the photo shoots with their kids. How amazing would it be to have a mini photo shot with kids? Oh, yeah, already planned. Oh yeah, yeah, really cool. Also, one more thing Um, these are our moms who are carrying diaper bags and backpacks. They have really cute, trendy ones. I have to tell you, any accessory that makes a woman feel cute, feminine, is gonna work. Yeah, yeah, all right. So let's talk about the pregnant mama, the one who's a mom in waiting. So what gifts can we give her to celebrate her anticipation and transformation?

Speaker 1:

comfortable shoes hey, I know that's right comfortable clothes, comfy I love the word yes, think anything come, anything comfortable. So, like you mentioned, cory, those are awesome. Body pillows, a comfy robe, right right, comfort is key. So, speaking of comfort, a massage like a prenatal massage, or I know some people are into yoga classes or just stretching, that's something sounds like something to think about you can get if you're in the Hallmark kind of mood. Pregnancy journals are great for women, um, who are expecting. And then I've seen this. I haven't received one, but it's like a letter from baby. So it's almost like, well, it'd be like dad writes a letter imagining he's the baby and this is what the baby's saying to mom.

Speaker 1:

Oh, that's cute, Like you know I hear your voice, your laughter. I can't wait to meet you.

Speaker 2:

Right.

Speaker 1:

I wonder what you look like. You know.

Speaker 2:

That's very heart touching. I think that would really move the needle in the department of emotions. You know, mm-hmm, department of emotions, you know, um, I'm gonna throw this one out there because I I used to do this. But a gift card to your uh to be mother's favorite, be a coffee shop or juice shop or some kind of drink thing that she likes, um, that's always gonna be a big winner, especially if you do like a 25 gift card where that's right, because you know coffees now are like eight, ten bucks yeah, and you can get multiple uh drinks from that, that gift card, make sure you think about that that's a good one, cory.

Speaker 1:

I love that one. All right. So this one is near and dear to my heart the Empty Nest your Mom, that's a great one.

Speaker 2:

You know, If you've graduated to Empty Nest man, let me tell you you probably have a PhD in motherhood.

Speaker 1:

That's right.

Speaker 2:

So congratulations to you.

Speaker 1:

That's right. So this woman has done the daily grind and now I think in this time of her life, it's about reconnection, or connection and rediscovery. Like who am I? We, you know, talk about this all the time with couples. Who are we now that the kids are grown? So what do you think, Corey? Good gift idea for me.

Speaker 2:

So you talked about and I've talked about the spa day and those are nice because you go and get, you know, your massage, you get your. And I've talked about the spa day and those are nice because you go and get your massage. But then there's those spa retreats that you can go on.

Speaker 1:

Like a whole getaway Weekend.

Speaker 2:

Getaway, yes, and you can be in the. I forgot the elements that they put you in when you want to immerse your Like mud baths.

Speaker 1:

Is that what you mean? The mud?

Speaker 2:

baths and the cucumbers on your eyes, and then you go back to your room? Yes, and you have your mint, the drink tea leaf drink and you know, just really enjoying unwind and you get a whole day of that. That's a good one. Um, some, sometimes they have specials to where if you buy one you get the second one half off, and so then you can send wife or mom with a sister or a friend, yes, and you just really get some good time to relax and, like you said, rediscover or maybe redefine yourself.

Speaker 1:

That's a good one. So travel I know a lot of women love to do this is wine tasting, right? Um, also because children who are experiencing and enjoying the adventures of life maybe there's not as frequent of calls or visits. It'd be great, kiddos, to send your mom a handwritten letter and just let her know that you're thinking about her. You know all that good stuff. If, mom, you don't already have this man, this is a great gift. It's a personalized like frame or a digital device that shows the different pictures of your kids through time, so like we have an alexa and it's the one with the screen so it shows memories and you can actually create an album. So I think that's special to create creating your mom an album so she can put it on her digital um frame, right, you know. So what I love here is emptiness doesn't mean an empty heart.

Speaker 2:

We got to make her feel full again yes, and guys, don't forget to do the simple things. Here's something really simple you can do you can start start a seven day text series. So so, seven days you're just sending mom I love you, mom, I care about you, mom, I'm thinking about you today, mom, I hope you're doing all right. Mom, let me know what you need. I'm on my way over there. You know, just start those simple things, so you can already begin to make her feel very valued.

Speaker 1:

Absolutely. I like that. That one's good.

Speaker 2:

Oh, you're giving I hope our kids are listening to this one, you know what me too.

Speaker 1:

If not, you better text them this episode and it's seven days in advance. Yeah, that's right. So this mom is a spiritual or nurturing mom. So she's the wise one, she's the hug giver, she's the one who drops advice.

Speaker 2:

Right, what's some something good for this type of mom um, maybe a book on some things that she loves to read about. Uh, some, you know what? The influencer thing, where you send them off to see one of their favorite influencers.

Speaker 1:

Okay.

Speaker 2:

Yeah.

Speaker 1:

Or like motivational speakers or someone Absolutely oh, I love that one. Okay, in addition to that, I've heard of this is sir doing like a service project in her name? Okay, so something that reflects her giving heart? Okay, right, really really cool, because some moms teach us by talking Others, by being these moms who are a gift to the world. Honor both.

Speaker 2:

Right.

Speaker 1:

So just reciprocating, that Pretty special.

Speaker 2:

And maybe, just maybe you know how some moms are the the taxi driver, the uber driver maybe you can transfer those, some of those rides for a couple of days to dad or older siblings so that they can do the taxi driving or the uber driving the kids around to all the different events. I know I needed that break every once in a while because I was the designated driver for the children when when they were young.

Speaker 1:

So yeah, yeah. So let's just think about some fun and just universal type of gifts. You mentioned the um doing the dishes and things like that. I've seen people create coupon books yeah so they can cash in or turn in a coupon for like yeah, I'll do your laundry. Um, I'll make you breakfast in bed. Have fun with that.

Speaker 2:

So it's a day off coupon book and moms, don't hesitate to write your own coupon book, or your own voucher book.

Speaker 1:

I love that.

Speaker 2:

Because, you know, some kids are just like, yeah, I'm not going to do that. Well, just hand it to them anyway and say you know what? This is what you're going to do for me for Mother's Day.

Speaker 1:

And so what I love, too, is that's such a good, budget friendly gift. Another one is oh gosh, I just had it where you create her favorite playlist on, like Apple Music or Spotify or YouTube, and you just send that to her or uh yeah, or then mother's day. Through the years, what was like the number one mom kind of song that year and just make a compilation and that's real easy, because all you got to do is ask a question hey, what's your favorite 10 songs?

Speaker 2:

that's right. What was your favorite era of music? You know, those are easy questions to ask.

Speaker 1:

To get to the, to the good present and I think we forget this one, because the pressure of giving a gift is we know what our moms like and the things that they enjoy, and so it's always the best to stay in those areas, and if you feel like your mom could use a challenge or stretch maybe, then that's what the gift is, yeah.

Speaker 2:

Right. Oh, and guys, you know women are sneakerheads nowadays, so you can even buy some sneaks for your woman or for your mom or for, you know, the mother that's in need of a new pair of sneakers. You know, what I've acquired doing is, just when I'm out buying me some sneakers, I say, hey, you know what I got to get Jen some sneakers too. So I don't get the matching ones, but I get her a pair that I think she might like.

Speaker 1:

That's right. That's right.

Speaker 1:

So all of us may not be moms, and sometimes there are people who no longer have their moms, and this is just a good day to celebrate all types of women yeah um, your relatives, your friends, and here we just really want to emphasize just being inclusive and just making it a woman day, cause I think most women have stepped into the shoes of mom for someone for sure. So I want to end with this quote, corey, but I'm going to ask if you have anything that you want to close out with.

Speaker 2:

No, I think we've covered a lot of bases and a lot of ground, and people should have some good ideas on what to do and how to go about tackling this Mother's Day. So have fun, guys, and enjoy the time that you have with your moms or your wives and the children. All that good stuff.

Speaker 1:

Yeah. So I'm going to close with this quote that to the world you are a mother, to your family you are the world. So happy shopping. You have been officially notified by genco or gen, the biller and cory that you have time to shop, or you have time to get these free coupons, like together Playlists, whatever that is. You have time to do this Because, by the time this airs, that weekend is Mother's Day weekend.

Speaker 2:

There you go.

Speaker 1:

So have fun. And you know us to take the elevator. We say look up, and let's elevate Every day, elevate Every day, elevate Every day elevate Every day.

Speaker 2:

Elevate Every day.
